Have you been considering volunteering to be part of the KM Girls Basketball Club?  We can't run this Club without great volunteers, so in order to show the appreciation for the time and dedication of our volunteers we have some awesome benefits to do just that!

  • All board members, head coaches, and assistant coaches who have a player in the KM Girls Basketball Club will receive a 100% discount on the annual registration fee.  Families that have more than one parent volunteering on the board or as a coach will also receive a 50% discount on a second player's registration of applicable.  (Full registration payments must be paid prior to try-outs and refunds will be given once teams and coaches have been selected)  
  • New FREE spiritwear for all board members and coaches every year.  
  • Head coaches receive a free Bucks ticket to the annual KMGBC Jr. Bucks night!

Board Application

Board members are expected to make a commitment to attend all monthly board meetings with three absences as grounds for termination.  Board positions are a two-year commitment from April 1 (or on the date of the application being accepted) through March 31st of that two year term.  

 

Board Terms are as follows: 

April 1st of Odd Years (2021, 2023, 2025, etc…) for: League Director, Treasurer, and Secretary

April 1st of Even Years (2020, 2022, and 2024 etc…) for: Program Director, Coaching Director, Sweetheart Tournament Director, Event Director.

All applications will be reviewed and voted on by the current board membership. You will be contacted within one week after this meeting. Thank you very much for your interest in our program. 


KMGBC Board Job Description

Program Director

  • A parent, coach, or community member. Voting member
  • Organization and leadership of board meetings
  • Manage all the financial aspects of the program
  • Present an annual budget
  • Provide direction and oversight for smooth operation of club through contact with directors of the various disciplines/activities o Provide leadership and direction for the growth and success of the club
  • Initial parent contact for grievances

Secretary

  • A parent, coach, or community member. Voting member
  • Assist the Program Director as needed
  • Document Board meeting minutes.
  • Report the minutes from the prior meeting

Treasurer

  • A parent, coach, or community member. Voting member
  • Work with Program Director and the board to set an annual budget and report monthly and fiscal year end financial status
  • Work with the Sweetheart Tournament Director on controlling and reconciling revenue & expenses of the Tournament
  • Work with the Lake Country League Director on controlling and reconciling league revenue and expenses
  • Provide a monthly financial report.

Sweetheart Tournament Director

  • A non coach parent or community member. Voting member
  • Plan, promote, coordinate and administer all aspects of the Sweetheart Tournament.
  • Oversee the Volunteer Coordinator position
  • Oversee the Concessions Coordinator position
  • Work with the Treasurer on controlling and reconciling revenue & expenses of the Tournament.

League Director

  • A non-coach parent or community member. Voting position
  • Director of LCGBA  league
  • Liaison for the YGSBL league
  • Oversees the facilities coordinator/site supervisor (site supervisor is a paid position)
  • Oversees the concession stand coordinator and staff. (Concession stand coordinator is a paid position.)
  • Oversees referee coordinator.
  • Organize teams and scheduling for the LCGBA.
  • Keep league standings.
  • Update and maintain LCGBA website
  • Works with treasurer on financials for leagues.

Coaching Director/Tryout Coordinator

  • Ideally, a non coach non parent community member. Voting member
  • Locate/recruit the best available coaches for our club
  • Ensure the overall philosophy of the club is effectively communicated and followed by the coaches.
  • Direct the coaching interviews & selection committee for these interviews o Work with HS coaches to provide important training (off-season & in-season)
  • Organize the comprehensive pre-season coach meeting
  • Maintain a high level of visibility with coaches and parents to facilitate open communication, consulting, and evaluation role with coaches during the season
  • Oversee open gym operations
  • Work with the Board in when dealing with parent grievances.
  • Organize tryouts including securing gym space/time
  • Ordering all tryout equipment and materials
  • Development of evaluation/tryout forms
  • Ensure the highest level of impartiality with the try out process and the selection of tryout evaluators
  • Provide ComEd Director and PR coordinator with tryout results for Board approval and assist in distribution of selections/cuts to players.
  • Collection of all coach and player evaluation forms
  • Given the large time commitment necessary, this is a paid position.

Club Events Director

  • A parent, non-parent, non coach. Voting member
  • Provide assitance to families of the club as requested
  • Events Director- oversees all club activities and events
  • Trains and works with Team Mgrs as necessary
  • Maintain a complete and on-going inventory of all equipment for the KM Girls Basketball Club.
  • Uniform/practice jersey sizing, distribution, collection, damage inspection, and repair/replacement o Inventory and ordering of all team equipment including basketballs, pumps, training aids, & first aid kits o Compilation, distribution, and final collection of equipment bags to coaches
  • Research and recommend new uniforms
  • Research, coordinate, order and distribute spirit wear for the club
  • Working with Community Education for the proper organization/storage of all equipment.

Community Education Director

  • Liason between KMGBC and Community Ed
  • Kelly Donaldson. Voting member
